Samsung Galaxy S25 Sales Triple S24’s First Month, But Daily Averages Drop Post Pre-Orders

Samsung’s latest flagship lineup, the Galaxy S25 series, has made a powerful debut, with new research indicating that its first-month sales were more than three times higher than those of the Galaxy S24 series. According to data from Hana Securities, Samsung recorded an impressive 4.56 million units sold within the first month, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra leading the pack. However, when analyzing sales trends after the pre-order period ended, the data suggests that last year’s Galaxy S24 series had stronger daily sales performance.
Galaxy S25 Ultra Takes the Lead
The research reveals that Samsung shipped a total of 4.56 million units of its premium Galaxy S25 lineup in the first month, with the Ultra variant accounting for 2.55 million units. The base Galaxy S25 followed with 1.17 million units, while the S25 Plus contributed 840,000 units. By comparison, the Galaxy S24 series had significantly lower first-month shipments, reaching only 1.42 million units. However, experts caution that direct comparisons between the two generations may be misleading due to differences in their launch timelines.
Galaxy S24 Still Holds an Edge
While the Galaxy S25 series showed remarkable early sales figures, data from Hana Securities suggests that post-pre-order daily sales numbers tell a different story. After pre-orders ended, the Galaxy S24 series maintained an average daily sales rate of 240,000 units, compared to 180,000 units for the Galaxy S25 series. This indicates that while initial demand for the Galaxy S25 lineup was strong, sustained sales momentum may require additional marketing efforts or price adjustments.
Factors Driving Sales and Future Outlook
The success of the Galaxy S25 series can be attributed to various factors, including hardware improvements and aggressive pricing strategies. Samsung has already introduced early discounts, with Amazon’s Big Spring Sale offering savings of up to $254.99 on select models. Such promotions may help Samsung maintain consumer interest in the coming months.
Looking ahead, Samsung has set an ambitious production target of 37 million units for the Galaxy S25 series in 2025, exceeding the 35 million units produced for the Galaxy S24 lineup in 2024. However, given the fluctuating sales patterns, analysts suggest that the true measure of the Galaxy S25’s success will only become clear as the year progresses.
Despite an overall 3% decline in total smartphone sales compared to January 2025, Samsung’s February 2025 sales showed a 15% increase year-over-year, totaling 19.03 million units. The only market to register positive growth during this period was India, while other regions saw a decline.
As the Galaxy S25 series continues to navigate the competitive smartphone market, Samsung will likely need to focus on sustained demand beyond the initial launch excitement. The coming months will reveal whether the brand can maintain its early momentum or if the Galaxy S24’s post-pre-order sales trends signal a challenge ahead for its successor.
