Pakistan’s Mobile Phone Imports Decline by 12.89% in FY 2024-25

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $1 billion in the first eight months (July-February) of the current fiscal year 2024-25, marking a 12.89% decline compared to $1.148 billion during the same period in 2023-24.
In rupee terms, mobile phone imports amounted to Rs278.366 billion, showing a 14.80% decline from Rs326.732 billion recorded during the same period last year.
During the fiscal year 2023-24, Pakistan’s total mobile phone imports stood at $1.898 billion, a significant increase compared to $570.071 million in 2022-23.
On a Month-on-Month (MoM) basis, mobile phone imports decreased by 1.21% in February 2025, falling to $132.620 million from $134.243 million in January 2025, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). On a Year-on-Year (YoY) basis, imports declined by 17.57% compared to $160.890 million in February 2024.
The overall telecom imports into Pakistan stood at $1.365 billion during July-February 2024-25, reflecting a 4.76% decline compared to $1.434 billion in July-February 2023-24. On a MoM basis, telecom imports fell by 9.66% in February 2025, reaching $175.084 million, down from $193.815 million in January 2025. On a YoY basis, telecom imports saw a 8.43% drop, compared to $191.202 million in February 2024.
