Infinix is set to debut the Infinix Note 50s 5G+ scent-emitting phone in India on April 18. While positioned as a mid-range device, it’s drawing attention for introducing a unique scent-release feature not typically seen in smartphones.
According to the company, the Infinix Note 50s 5G+ scent-emitting phone will feature proprietary Scent-Tech, a microencapsulation process where fragrance molecules are sealed in microscopic capsules. These are embedded into the synthetic leather back panel of the phone, gradually releasing a light, ambient fragrance over time.
Infinix notes that the scent will be subtle and continuous, designed not to be overpowering. The fragrance is expected to last for approximately six months, although environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and usage frequency may affect its duration and intensity.
The scent-enabled back panel will be exclusive to the Marine Drift Blue color variant. The other two colors launching alongside it will not include this fragrance technology. This makes the Marine Drift Blue version the only one featuring the scent-release capability.
The Infinix Note 50s 5G+ is anticipated to launch at a price below INR 20,000, placing it in the competitive entry-level to mid-range smartphone market in India. While full specifications—including processor, display, battery, and software details—remain undisclosed, the inclusion of a scent-emitting panel hints at the brand’s push toward innovation in design and user experience.
It remains unclear whether the fragrance can be refilled, replaced, or deactivated. The feature has sparked curiosity, though questions linger regarding its practicality during daily use and its effectiveness across different climate conditions.
