Apple’s Foldable iPhone Might Outprice Galaxy Z Fold 6

While the Android market is already filled with impressive foldable devices, Apple enthusiasts will need to be patient. Despite ongoing rumors, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to launch no sooner than late 2026 or early 2027 possibly even later. With this timeline in mind, experts are now estimating how much this highly anticipated device could cost.

According to an investor research report shared by Tim Long with Barclays, Apple’s foldable iPhone might debut with a starting price of around $2,300 in the US. If this prediction holds, it would make it the most expensive iPhone ever released.

For comparison, the current most expensive iPhone, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, starts at $1,199 roughly half the price of the rumored foldable model.

Pricing Based on Supply Chain Estimates

The estimated price comes from discussions with Asian hardware manufacturers, suggesting that Apple’s supply chain is actively preparing for a foldable iPhone launch. However, with such a steep price tag, initial sales could be limited.

Well-known Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also predicted a price range of $2,000 to $2,500 for Apple’s foldable device.

Expected Specifications of Apple’s Foldable iPhone

Based on reports, the foldable iPhone is expected to feature:

  • 7.8-inch internal display
  • 5.5-inch external display
  • Dual rear cameras
  • Front Camera
  • Power button with Touch ID
  • High-density battery
  • Thickness ranges from 9–9.5mm when folded, and as thin as 4.5mm when unfolded

How It Compares to Samsung’s Foldables

Apple’s pricing strategy would put its first foldable iPhone in the same range as Samsung’s original Galaxy Z Fold from 2019, which launched at around $1,980. However, Samsung has significantly improved its foldable technology since then. The latest Galaxy Z Fold 6 is priced at $1,900, making it more affordable than Apple’s rumored foldable.

While Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to come at a premium price, it could still justify the cost if it delivers innovative features and superior build quality. Until then, Apple users will have to wait and see whether the high price tag is worth it.
