Want to sleep with Botticelli and Titian? National Gallery London launches sleepover prize – The Art Newspaper
If you want to get up close and personal with the treasures at London’s National Gallery, you’re in luck. The gallery is launching a prize draw offering one lucky art lover a chance to spend a night under the roof of the venerated institution and see the long-awaited rehang of its entire collection (CC Land: The Wonder of Art) before anyone else. For the first time, art lovers can sleep over at the Trafalgar Square institution, bedding down on the bridge that connects the newly refurbished Sainsbury Wing with the rest of the gallery.
On 9 May, the winner will enjoy dinner for two at Locatelli, the National Gallery’s restaurant, and also receive a private tour of the new display with a National Gallery curator (we hear that Christine Riding, National Gallery director of collections and research, will be the expert guide). After their sleepover with the (art historical) stars, the winner will enjoy a breakfast hamper before having the gallery to themselves for a limited time, says a press statement. Keen to enter? In a canny marketing move, anyone over 18 who subscribes to the gallery’s newsletter will be entered into the sleepover draw (don’t forget your jim-jams and the hot water bottle).
