Anysphere, which makes Cursor, is reportedly raising $900M at $9B valuation

Anysphere, the maker of AI-powered coding tool Cursor, has attracted $900 million in a fresh round of funding led by Thrive Capital, Financial Times reported, citing anonymous sources familiar with the deal.

Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Accel are also participating in the round, which values Anysphere at about $9 billion, the report said.

Earlier in the year, Cursor raised $105 million from Thrive and a16z at a $2.5 billion valuation, TechCrunch reported in December. Thrive Capital also led that round, and a16z participated invested as well.

Investors, including Index Ventures and Benchmark, have been falling over themselves for a chance to back the company, but it looks like Anysphere’s existing investors don’t want to miss out on a chance to back the company.

Other AI-powered coding startups are also attracting investor interest. In February, TechCrunch reported that Windsurf was in discussions to raise a round at a $3 billion valuation. Last month, reports around OpenAI trying to acquire the startup at the same value also emerged.
