Xiaomi Prepares to Release Redmi A5 in Pakistan, Launch Expected by Mid-April

Xiaomi is preparing to introduce its latest entry-level smartphone, the Redmi A5, to the Pakistani market. Following its global release last month, the device is expected to arrive locally before mid-April 2025.
The Redmi A5 includes a 6.88-inch IPS LCD screen that displays HD+ information at 720 x 1640 pixels while operating at a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen reaches 1500 nits of brightness through HBM technology, making it stand out from lower-priced devices available in the market.
The smartphone design adopts a contemporary appearance that incorporates a rounded, pill-shaped camera module connected to flat edges that descended from premium smartphone models. The Redmi A5 provides limited protection from water and dust, yet it does not possess an official IP certification.
The device operates internally with a Unisoc T7250 (12nm) processor containing an octa-core CPU structure that combines 2×1.8 GHz Cortex-A75 CPUs and 6×1.6 GHz Cortex-A55 CPUs and a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU. The device comes pre-installed with Android 15 (Go edition) alongside Xiaomi’s HyperOS Go Edition operating system, which has been specially designed for lower-end hardware compatibility.
The device offers two memory configurations with 4GB RAM and an onboard virtual RAM extension and either 64GB or 128GB of storage memory based on eMMC 5.1 specifications. An additional microSD card slot provides storage expansion capabilities.
The Redmi A5 features one 32MP rear camera together with an 8MP front-facing camera. The camera on the back of the phone includes HDR features together with 1080p video recording capabilities. Even with software optimization for better performance in bright conditions, hardware constraints reduce the capabilities for low-light photo results.
The 5200mAh battery of this device supports quick charging at 18W through its USB Type-C connection, and Xiaomi claims the battery will last through 1000 charge cycles.
Xiaomi has positioned the Redmi A5 as a budget-friendly device, with the expected retail price in Pakistan set at Rs. 34,999. The device will be available in multiple colors including Black, Blue, Green, and Silver.
